About the Role
Reporting to the Manger - Construction and Projects, this role will project manage, direct facility specification and design, development, tendering, project budget estimation, construction, delivery and hand-over of a diverse portfolio of works. This role will be responsible for numerous scopes of work from start to finish and would suit an experience Project Engineer/Manger.
We are looking for someone who has a strong focus on preparing and maintaining detailed programme of works for the scopes to be delivered. A proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence is a must to be successful in this role.
This role requires travel to various sites around Victoria. Our head office is located in Regional Victoria but we are open to candidates based in Melbourne and have an office location opening there soon. No matter where a candidate is based, they must meet the requirement to be able to travel to worksites.
Role and Responsibilities
Accurate forecasts of costs and utilise corrective action to maximise the profit margin.
Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier, subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements
Assist in the development of estimates and submissions for rail services work.
Coordinating day to day activities of the team and programme workloads and acting as a point of escalation for critical and non-critical event and point of technical expertise.
Ensure that project completion is on time, within budget, to acceptable risk management criteria, and to specification. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings.
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of works.
Manage on-site engineering functions directly and through subordinates, which may include site engineers and graduate engineers.
Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
Plan resource requirements including plant, equipment, labour, materials, and staff resourcing.
Perform all duties in accordance with Gradian policies, processes, systems, reporting and procedures.
Take a client first approach with daily action driven by company values and a culture of teamwork.
Thorough monitoring and review of budgets and project profitability.
Skills and Experience
Ability to work under pressure in a complex environment.
Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite included.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent
Competency in interpreting technical schedules and documentation
Delivery of minor projects to program and budget specifications.
Effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource management.
Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards, and implications for project accountabilities.
Minimum 7 years’ post graduate engineering experience. At least 5+ years site based.
Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements.
Major projects experience on > $10 M Projects highly regarded.
Project wide level of planning, development, and review of complex projects.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan. Safety Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan.
